as I understand your writing you do it wrong.
First, the indication "running" shows you an installed program is running.
The indication for being ready to load a program is "HOSTMODE"
And there is NO indication for being ready to load a new OS version..!
For HOSTMODE:
you should press and hold down (or jumper) RESET,
simultanously jumper down HOST,
release RESET but still keep down HOST for at least 8 seconds,
and then release the HOST. Now you should see HOSTMODE.
For BOOTMODE:
repeat the above but instead of HOST you must use BOOT pin.
There could be a possible SERVICE mode software (earlier in the forum),
which requires you to hold the HOST down for about 30 seconds
after releasing the RESET or it will not function.
And there is NOTHING seen in the display for hostmode !
